    Win10/XB1 streaming

    Hey there,

I had a question and was curious to know if anyone knew anything about it. I tested the latest build 10159 with the streaming thing (as I'm in the XB1 preview program as well) and it actually works really well, although once you switch your display, that device that you are streaming to wants the controller connected (which I believe some USB dongle thing is coming out for PC connectivity) - anyhow, I was curious to know since I believe with win10 mobile, this streaming capability will exist as well...but does anyone know anything about if and how to get a controller synced up with a phone? The more I thought about it, it's genius...MS kind of created a portable xbox one as long as 4GLTE can keep up. *Biggrin

    :)

WiFi Drops while streaming games from XB1

    Hi Guys,

I have a dell Latitude laptop running on W10 Pro, Everything works fine till i stream games from XB1.

I am able to stream and play with no issue's but after 40-50 min of play,Stream stops when i had a look it shows as no wifi.

wifi adapter is disabled, restarts the Laptop everything fine and then again it looses Wifi (i dont remember the specific timing).

Other wise no issue, binge watch netflix, download anything no issue's 24/7 on both XB1 and laptop.

But Streaming game is an issue, especially COD and other games.

    cheers

  3. Windows 10 cannot display to Xbox One via the Wireless Display App

Well just tried this out today... My Galaxy S4 streams fine to the XB1, My Windows 8.1 tablet does as well.

Windows 10 however, Devices keeps showing it as a Play device but nothing that can be projected to when XB1 is using the wireless extend app..

I would imagine that W10 mobile supports USB On The Go, which could be used to hook up a controller to your phone. I've been able to do that with my Android phones in the past with a 360 controller.

Can you do preview program invites? I think existing members can - I'm MG on XBox Live. I'd love to try this with 10159 as well.

  6. This would be a rather long shot, but perhaps worth trying. Xbox wireless controllers can only be married to specific hardware dongles. Since the X1 Windows dongle is ONLY Windows 10 driven, I don't see any movement on something like this anytime soon. It is a bummer that the dongle has to have Windows 10 present (so says the hardware releases) because I wanted to use my preordered Steam Link without having a 10+ foot USB strung across the room when playing on my TV from my PC. We shall see!

What's weird, to me at least, is I bought the new X1 controller that just came out yesterday, and I'm not a controller engineer or anything, but in order to do firmware updates, you update the controllers through the X1 UI. The new controller can update OTA while the old one requires a USB cable to be plugged into it. I'm not sure how it actually updates wirelessly, but if they can somehow use that same tech on a phone and/or pc, that would be amazing...

It's just transmitting information, the same way the wireless controller has always transmitted information back and forth - all those comms are just digital packets, you know - the difference being now the firmware has a route to be writable from the radio, is all.

Either they didn't have time to implement it at release or (more likely) they wanted to reduce the overall complexity of the system at first - controller updates have after all been few and far in between, so better to launch, let everything settle in, let the factories, supply chains, quality control, etc. get in their grooves and work out the kinks, etc., and then iterate/update later when they know they have things solid. Which is what they did. It's neat and I am glad they did it, but it's not really magic.

5 gets you 10 there are a dozen or more other minor changes on the inside of the box not worth remarking on too that they've added over the last 18 months.

  9. I can vouch that this is likely truth with Microsoft. I have been on a what was once a six month mobile app project (now still going with further iterations) and there is usually a period of seeing the creation walk on its own. That is when you begin to experiment with more gusto. I too have the new controller and am hoping that once a stride is discovered it will prove to be just more than a 3.5mm connector and refined input. However, the ability to stream and finally play 360 games has me more giddy than I had been in ages. I hope the X1 dongle will be supported on Steam Link and eventually refined into much smaller, compact version. Happy streaming everyone!
