Windows 10: win11 h2 and asus x670e-plus wifi Ethernet stuck at 100mbps

So my old motherboard dies it always worked at 1000mbps. I buy a new Asus x670e-plus wifi motherboard and all new components.This MB has a 2.5gbps ethernet card by realtek. I can not get it to work above 100mbps. I installed all the Asus drivers, and in control panel under the ethernet nic , on the ADVANCED tab SPEED & DUPLEX the entries ONLY show 100 and 2.5gbps settings no 1000 ? I have tried the 2.5 but it defaults to 100.before you ask , the cable was good before the MB was replaced and it's hooked up to a 1gbps switch , I have rebooted the switch too.for nowI just ordered a I

Ethernet suddenly running at 100Mbps instead of 1000Mbps

Hi,

So, a few weeks ago I had some problems with getting 1000Mbps running (it ran at 100Mbps) on the motherboards ethernet port. It ended in me buying a PCI-E express card, and the connection started running at 1000Mbps.

The PCI-e card is of model TP-Link TG-3468.
The router is of model ASUS RT-AX82U.
My Windows Version is "Version 20H2 (OS Build 19042.746)"

Fast forward to yesterday, when I (unrelatedly) installed a switch between the router and a couple of other connected devices. I noticed that my desktop computer started running at 100Mbps again, and I can't get it to run at 1000Mbps. I'm not sure that it's related to me installing the switch (it shouldn't be).

Some things I've tried/other info:

• The desktop computer not getting gigabit speed is not connected to the switch - it's connected directly to the router.
• I tried connecting a Raspberry Pi 4 with the same cable that the desktop computer is using, and it gets 1000Mbps speed. So - the cable doesn't seem to be the problem.
• I tried switching the PCI-E slot that the gigabit card is installed into, and it doesn't make a difference-.
• I tried installing the latest drivers (both from TP-Link:s website, and Windows Update). No difference.
• I tried forcing gigabit speed in the settings of the adapter, but it still connects with 100Mbps.
• I tried connecting the desktop computer with a brand new cat 6 cable, and it still connects at 100Mbps.
• I think some Windows Updates was installed a few days ago. Don't know if it could be related.

Does anyone have any suggestions in getting my connection to run at 1000Mbps again?

 

Can I connect to my ISP@200mbps through ethernet cable when I have a TAP-Windows Adapter V9 card installed which shows 100mbps as it's speed?

I have recently bought a new laptop and have a 200mbps internet line installed. My issue is this. When I plug the ethernet cable from the router into my laptop and run a speedtest, the max I am getting is less than 100mbps, (usually around 93-95mbpsDL).

I then remove the ethernet cable and run the speedtest over the wifi and am hitting 200mbps, which is great.

The status of my Ethernet 3 adaptor lists 100mbps. Yet this is a top spec brand new laptop (07/2016). Am I right then in thinking that almost all new laptops shipped have 100mbps max DL speed limit?? And therefore any fast connection over an ethernet is just
wasted??

If so, this seems very odd to me. Can anyone help with this?

W10 Anniversary update - can't get ethernet at 1Gbps gives 100Mbps

My Lan connection seems to report 100Mbps (Ethernet) instead of 1Gbps. This is after upgrade to new W10 anniversary edition.





My Laptop wifi can do better at 400 Mbps !!!!
