  1. [WIN11] How do I remove phantom keyboard layout? PLUS ALT+SHIFT

Hi guys,I have trouble setting the keyboard layouts to the way I like.As you can see in the picture below, I primarily use a Serbian Latin layout, but in some cases, I need to use a US or Serbian Cyrillic layout. However, you may notice I have an English United States keyboard with a Serbian Latin layout. It's the same layout but has a different name and I can't remove it for some reason. I prefer to use my computer in the English language because it's easier and faster for a lot of things with Serbian keyboard layout for the šđžćč letters and other characters and shortcuts. It really bugs

    :)

  2. Why the hell was SHIFT+ALT replaced by CTRL+SHIFT to change keyboard layouts (with the last updates ?)

Hi, my name is Kelly, and I'm an independent consultant and I'm here to help.

I understand that you are frustrated with the change in the keyboard layout switching shortcut from SHIFT+ALT to CTRL+SHIFT. It can be challenging to adapt to a new shortcut, especially when it conflicts with another common shortcut you use.

The reason for this change is that the CTRL+SHIFT shortcut is more commonly used across different applications and operating systems, making it a more standardized and universal option. However, I understand that this change has caused inconvenience for users like yourself who are used to using SHIFT+ALT.

If you want to change the keyboard layout switching shortcut back to SHIFT+ALT, you can do so by following these steps:

Go to Settings > Time & Language > Language.

Under the "Preferred languages" section, click on "Options" next to the language you want to change the shortcut for.

Click on "Add a keyboard" and select the keyboard layout you want to use.

Click on "Advanced keyboard settings" and scroll down to the "Switching input methods" section.

Click on "Change language bar hot keys" and select "Between input languages" from the list.

Click on "Change Key Sequence" and select "Not Assigned" for both "Switch Input Language" and "Switch Keyboard Layout".

Click "OK" to save your changes.

After following these steps, you can use SHIFT+ALT to switch between keyboard layouts on your Windows device. I hope this helps alleviate some of the frustration you have been experiencing.

  3. Why the hell was SHIFT+ALT replaced by CTRL+SHIFT to change keyboard layouts (with the last updates ?)

There is no definitive answer to this specific change, but Microsoft may have made this change to avoid conflicts with other keyboard shortcuts that use a SHIFT+ALT combination. It could also be to ensure that changing your keyboard layout is more consistent across all versions of Windows. Regardless of the reason, the current keyboard shortcut for changing the keyboard layout is CTRL+SHIFT, but you can reset this to SHIFT+ALT if you prefer. To do this, you can access keyboard settings in the Windows control panel and change the keyboard shortcut to a SHIFT+ALT combination.
