Windows 10: Win11 intermittent network/sharing connectivity bug with Win10.

When is there going to be a fix for the win 11 to win 10 network connectivity/sharing issue? This is an intermittent problem as sometimes my network shows my computers and I can share files and most of the time there is nothing there in file explorer. This is definitely a win 11 problem.

Accessing shares on local network. Win11 able to see shares on Win10 but denied access to them.

Two PCs on a local network one Win10 the other Win11 (new PC).

I can access the shared empty DATA drive on the Win11 PC and copy files to it. However from the Win11 PC the shares on the Win10 PC are visible, but, with one exception (the "Users" share on the Win10 system drive) "You do not have permission" message pops up on the Win11 PC when trying to access them. I've checked permissions - they look OK. I ran sfc /scannow on both PCs and the Win10 PC picked up and corrected some errors. However, the problem persists.

 

sharing a usb printer from win10 to win11

Hi All

I have a home network with 2 computers. one has win10 installed and a usb printer attached, let's call it win10. The other is running the latest version of win11, including beta updates, let's call this one win11.

I can access win10 from win11 using remote desk. Thus i have full access to it, I have a user account on win10, with admin privilidges.

on win11 i can see in windows explorer the win10 computer and the usb printer. When i try to connect to the printer, it asks for my login credentials, when i enter them, the same ones that allow me to use remote desk on it, it says : The credentials supplied are not sufficient to access this printer.

How does that make sense? I can remote desk to win10 and print anything i want, but i can't connect to the printer or install it in win11. I have spent 5 hours trying every solution on the web, even asked ChatGPT for help and none of the sloutions work, Is this a bug in win11? Is it just impossible to do this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

  Press Window Key, and type Network and sharing
  
• 
  Click on Change Advanced sharing settings
  
• 
  Select all network
  
• 
  Under Home Group connections
  
• 
  Select Use user Account and Password to connect to other computer
  
• 
  If don’t want the password follow the steps below
  
• 
  Select all network
  
• 
  Under password protected Sharing
  
• 
  Turn off Password Protected Sharing
