Windows 10: Win11 low fps when running with windowed mode

When running Final Fantasy XIV on windowed mode and set lock to 60fps, there are visible stutters that indicate the game is running at most half of that.- The problem exists when the game is set to windowed mode or windowed full-screen mode. It happens at any resolution and with any graphic setting.- The problem doesn't exist in win10, earlier builds of win11, full-screen mode of the game, or with no framerate limit.- All software fps monitoring methods indicate that the game is indeed running at 60fps, but it is visibly not.- The game is running with dx11.

Firstly, you may try to uninstall and reinstall the game and check if it helps.

If issue still persists, I suggest you to Uninstall and reinstall the Display driver in Compatibility mode and check if it works for you.
Refer to the steps below:

Follow the steps to uninstall the Display driver:

• Press Windows Key + X key and click Device Manager.
• Expand ‘Display Adapters’.
• Right-click on the Display Adapter listed and click on ‘Uninstall’.
• Select the option to Delete driver software.
• Restart the computer after its uninstalled.

Now download the drivers the manufacturer website and install it in Windows 8.1 compatibility mode. Follow the steps provided below to install the drivers in compatibility mode:

• Right-click on the driver and click on ‘properties’.
• Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box "Run this program in compatibility mode for
  “and select Windows 8.1 operating system from the drop down.
• Click on ‘Apply’ and click ‘OK’ and run the file to install it.

• Downloaded the drivers for your card manually
  • Using the nvidia website on the driver page use, Option 1 Manually find drivers for your NVIDIA products.
    • Product Type
    • Product Series
    • Product
    • Operating System
    • Language
• Select the green SEARCH button
• Select the green DOWNLOAD button
• Run the Nvidia Driver that you downloaded.
• Accept the licence agreement.
• Select "CUSTOM".
• Make sure "Clean installation" is checked.
• Begin installation.
• After installation has finished shutdown your computer. Do not do a restart.
• After your computer has shut down restart your computer.

I must have had the wrong driver installed because this fixed my low fps.

 

GAMES RUNNING ON LOW FPS AFTER UPDATE

1. Go to Settings.
2. Click Gaming (Game bar, DVR, broadcasting, Game Mode).
3. Toggle the "ON" switch under “Record game clips, screenshots, and broadcast using Game bar” to “Off”.
4. Uncheck the "Show game bar when I play full-screen games Microsoft has verified" checkbox.

Solution 3: Turn off the Game DVR.

1. Click the Start button, and then type Xbox app to open it.
2. Go to Settings.
3. Click Game DVR.
4. Make sure that the "Record game clips and screenshots using Game DVR" selection is "Off"
