Windows 10: Win11 time zone wrong- Control Panel was the solution

This has been discussed already but solutions don't work for my corporate-locked-down-build. Win11 suddenly changed from Eastern to Pacific time zone and the selection to change the time zone will not allow manual changing. Command prompt with administrator access is also blocked. I finally discovered that the Control Panel search for 'Control Panel' allows for manually adjusting this. Problem solved for now, but if Microsoft removes control panel in a future release then what?

Time Zone

Hi Dean,

Try the classic “Date and Time” applet in the classic Control Panel as a workaround.

You can launch it via Control Panel or run timedate.cpl via the Run dialog.

Clock displays wrong time

I suggest you to follow the below steps to change the settings of time and time zone:

• Press “Windows+X” and click on “control panel”.
• On the left hand side click on “clock, language and region”.
• Click on “change time zone”.
• And then click on the tab “internet time” and click on “change settings”.
• Check the box “synchronize with an internet time server” and also select the option “time.windows.com” from the drop down and click on “ok” and check if the issue persists.

 

Shows the wrong time

If you live in a region that does not observe daylight saving time (DST), but the Windows setting for that time zone
does adjust for daylight saving time, we recommend that you do not clear the
Automatically adjust clock for Daylight Saving Time check box in the
Time Zone Settings dialog box. Instead, we suggest that you select a time zone that does not observe daylight saving time and that has the same Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) offset as the current time zone.

For example, assume that your current time zone is (UTC-06:00) Central Time (US and Canada). There are two time zones that do not observe daylight saving time and that have the same UTC offset (-06:00):

• (UTC-06:00) Central America
• (UTC-06:00) Saskatchewan

To change your time zone setting, follow these steps:

• In Control Panel, click Clock, Language, and Region.
• Click Change the time zone.
• In the Time Zone area of the Date and Time
  dialog box, click Change time zone.
• In the Time zone list, select a time zone that does not observe daylight saving time and has the same UTC offset as your current time zone.
• Click OK.
• Click Apply, and then click OK.
