Windows 10: Win1903 - RDP Issue on VMWare -with High Cpu

Hi Team


Currently we are upgrading our users from LTSB /1809 to 1903, they are using Virtual environment via VMWare..


All the machines are patched and up to date, along with latest VMWare Tools.


Our off-shore team are having issue, where the VM locks up and only way to get back in his via restart, also noticed that the CPU is 100 CPU and via VM ware player we cant even manage it.

I checked the Microsoft support page for 1903 (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-information/status-windows-10-1903) and all the patches are installed on the machine.


Has anyone else encountered this issue?

Black search window when I connect to my VM via RDP (Windows 10 1903)

​I understand that the search bar is blank when you access the virtual machine using remote desktop connection.

It could be possibly that the display scaling settings are not working properly for the Virtual Machine. I would suggest you to follow the steps and check if that helps.

1. Close VMware Workstation
2. Right click on the VMWare workstation Shortcut
3. Select Properties
4. Choose Compatibility
5. Under Settings Check, "Disable display scaling on High DPI settings".
6. Open Workstation

However, if the issue persists, let me point you in the right direction where you will be able to get the support for the issue that you are facing. I would suggest you to post your query in the

Windows 10 Display Blinking with High CPU

After upgrade to Windows 10, experiencing flashing display and high CPU.

• At initial logon screen everything is normal - wall paper and logon screen display with no blinking
• After logon, fan starts as CPU usage spikes, cursor is accompanied by the spinning blue circle
• touchscreen does not respond to swipe to access Recovery/Safe mode for reboot
• able to get to Task Manager and Perfmon to see high CPU usage and explorer.exe is suspended

looking for suggestions on how to either fix or roll back to Windows 8.1

• Which build and version of Windows are you using?
• Which update was installed when the issue occurred?

In the meantime, we suggest that you run the System Maintenance troubleshooter. See steps below:

• In the search box, type Control Panel and select Control Panel.
• Click on Troubleshooting.
• On the left panel, click on View all.
• Click on System Maintenance option.
• Click on Next and follow the on-screen instructions to troubleshoot the issue.
