Windows 10: Win7 Professional Upgrade RETAIL --> Windows 10?

My home PC is currently running Windows 7 Professional, a retail boxed version that I purchased some years ago. I still have the original box with the original DVD discs, and product key. However the box says it's an "Upgrade" version, although I have done more than one clean install with those discs over the years, from blank HDD partitions.

Is there any problem doing a clean Win10 Pro install using the Win7 Pro retail product key? I just purchased new upgrade parts (basically a new machine but using my previous 650W power supply, case, DVD writer etc.) and like usual the motherboard and processor only officially supports Win10.

Upgrade editions, retail versions and transfers

Apologies if this has been asked before, I couldn't find any definite answers.

I have a few concerns regarding the free upgrade because I'll want to update all our home computers (5 total). 3 of them are running Windows 8.1 Professional Retail version, one is running Windows 7 Professional and one Windows 8.1 Home Edition OEM.

• Can someone confirm the upgrade edition assumptions below are correct?

• Windows 8.1 Professional Retail -> Windows 10 Professional Retail
• Windows 8.1 Home OEM -> Windows 10 Home OEM
• Windows 7 Professional Retail -> Windows 10 Professional Retail

2. Regarding the Windows 10 Professional Retail (once upgraded), are you able to transfer the OS to a different computer if needed like I'd be right now? Meaning you de-activate on current machine and then install / activate on second machine?

3. I also have a Surface 2 RT. Will there be an upgrade available for this too?

problem on upgrading from win7 professional to win 10

i have this problem on upgrading from win7 professional to win 10. When windows update check for programs not compatible with win 10 list the following : microsoft virtual pc 2007 sp1 and

virtual pc 2007 sp1

and ask permission to remove both. I granted permission and the first was successfully removed but for the last windows update ask to remove it manually. The little problem is that this program dont exist and never existed on my machine. i reinstalled micrososoft
virtual pc upgraded to sp1 unistalled reboot but without any luck. Checked registry List of programs installed menu start all i can think of no istance of this program. I search on google the only virtual pc 2007 sp1 is the microsoft version so i am blocked
on this issue. Any suggestion? Thanks in advance.

 

What about Retail/Paid upgrade from Win7 to Win10.

I would like to upgrade from Win7 to Win10. I build my own main computers and change motherboard once a year.

The free upgrade is simply useless to me - calling it a free upgrade is an overstatement and a pure marketing ploy.

Can I upgrade from Win7 to full re-installable Win10?

My only other option seems to buy a new retail version of 10. However this is expensive at $300 - since I happened to live in Europe and it seems I need to pay $100 more over our US master race.

So is there an option for that? Some forum answers suggest there is a retail upgrade path but ... I can not see it anywhere.
