Windows 10: Winddows 10 - Photos Legacy - Won't Open Images

Hello! Hoping someone can help.I am running Windows 10, Home, 64-bit on a PC which is currently up to date. A few months back, because I was having issues with the newer Microsoft "Photos" program, I uninstalled it and installed Microsoft's "Photo Legacy" however I'm having problems with this opening images, too jpg, gif, png. I have already reset it under the Settings area and it didn't help I went into Apps & Features, went to Photo Legacy, clicked on the ellipses ... and chose Advanced, and then reset from there. I thought I'd uninstall and r

The Photos Legacy app is missing image icons

I installed the Photos Legacy app from the Microsoft Store. I then changed the default image viewer from Photos to Photos Legacy. I immediately noticed that there are no icons for any image files (such as jpg, gif, png files). In other words, if I open up windows explorer and browse to a folder that contains image files, and assuming that the folder's viewing mode is set to either "details" or "list", there should be a little icon next to each image file. The icon is supposed to be a white rectangle with blue mountains on it. But instead, all I see is a white rectangle. Note: I'm not referring to thumbnail previews. They still show up fine.

If I change the default image viewer back to Photos, the icons reappear.

 

Both Microsoft Photos and Photos Legacy no longer open image files

Both Microsoft Photos and Photos Legacy no longer open image files. This has happened before and after going into APPS and both Repairing and Resetting both apps they worked. However, that no longer fixes this issue. Microsoft Photo Gallery does open all image files.

Why is this happening and how do I fix this?

I suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.

Step 1: Run Windows app troubleshooter.

Step 2: Run shell commands for Windows store and check if it helps.

Follow the below steps:

• 
  Press Windows key + X and select
  Command prompt(Admin) to open elevated Command prompt.
  
• 
  Type the following commands.
  
  
  
  powershell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $Env:SystemRoot\WinStore\AppxManifest.xml
  
• 
  Hit enter, the blackscreen will appear still for a couple of seconds. After a couple of second a new line saying C:\.... will appear.
  
• 
  Close Command Prompt.
  
• 
  Try to start the Windows Store again.
