Hello, I am doing an over-haul of my NAS storage, wanting to clean up some old junk and stuffMy Laptop System Setup: I have a some-what complex setup, GigaByte AERO 15-YA / Intel i9 / 64GB RAM 2 daisy chained Thunderbolt 3 docking stations each with two M.2 SSD storage and USB-3/C connected storages in combined well over 10TB capacity to match my NAS capacity. 2 x 4K desktop resolution screens Nvidia Chipset renders and passed 3D rendering through Thunderbolt 3's external display ports as wellExternal Display is my PrimaryI am using Windows 11 Freshly downloaded ISO a month ago as of this

File copying speed questions

Speeds can fluctuate for a few reasons. First, the transfer generally start off faster then settle down due to the file transfer using the cache of the drives and the burst speeds of the drives/connections.

Also, speeds can vary during a transfer because writing/reading different size files will affect speed. So if you are reading/writing a bunch of very small files, the transfer speed will generally be a lot lower than if you are reading/writing one large file.

 

Java.nio.file - Copying files

You can't copy a folder, thats why it generates an exception (you are trying to copy a folder using a copy file function).
You probably need to list all the files inside that folder and copy one by one

 

Cable to transfer files

OMG. I have never met anyone who actually bought one of those file transfer things.



Firewire will do the same as USB, but faster, so will a cheap crossover cable. I can wlak you through the steps of moving data so you will not miss a beat.




Anything more than $10 to buy a cable is too much.
