I would convert your Windows 10 USB flash drive to boot into Kyhi's recovery drive. See my quote in the middle of the OP:
Windows 10 Recovery Tools - Bootable Rescue Disk - Windows 10 Forums

Get yourself a micro-SD card, format it NTFS, copy the Windows 10 ISO file to it.

Boot into Kyhi's recovery tools, remove the USB flash drive, connect the keyboard and/or mouse to the USB port. Mount the Windows 10 ISO file on the Micro-SD card, run setup.exe from the mounted ISO file. That's how I do clean installs on my Nextbook tablet.

Ultimately the "Attempting Repair" that was working last night on my tablet failed.

Thanks NavyLCDR for post ... I'm working on that and I have a micro-SD card I can use for this. Might take a little while as I've got some other things to take care of this morning.

OK I converted my Windows 10 USB flash drive to boot into Kyhi's recovery drive by copying the boot.wim file from \sources in Kyhi's recovery drive to the \sources on my Windows 10 install USB flash drive (overwriting the old file).

I’ve formatted a micro-SD card, for NTFS, and copied the Windows 10 ISO file (Win10_1607_English_x32.iso) onto it.

Tomorrow (charging tablet right now), I’ll boot into Kyhi's recovery tools via my modified USB flash drive, remove the USB flash drive, connect a mouse to the USB port. Mount the Windows 10 ISO file on the Micro-SD card and then run setup.exe from the mounted ISO file.

To be honest I’m basically just following steps and not totally understanding all of them. Before I got my micro-SD card ready, I was able to boot into Kyhi’s recovery program, was able to removed the USB drive and get my mouse to work but really don’t know what all those programs do. I’ll have to go back and start reading about they’re capability. I’m sure it must be GOOD stuff, if I only knew how to use them. *Confused

Yes, there is some good programs on there, but all you need to install Windows from there is just plain Windows File Explorer Window 10 ASUS Tablet only boots to BIOS menu :)

You can swap between mouse and keyboard on your single USB port if you have to, or use a wireless mouse keyboard combination that has only one receiver, or use a keyboard with a touchpad built in.

Everything started out fine until I got to the step of mounting the Windows 10 ISO file on the Micro-SD card. The Micro-SD card is not showing up. I don't usually use a Micro-SD card but it worked fine a few months ago and it reads fine in my desktop computer so I'm not sure what my options are now. I've wiggled the card, ejected it and re-inserted it to see if the tablet will recognize it while I've got the tablet running with Kyhi's recovery drive desktop. Any suggestions?

Kyhi's recovery tools probably does not have the drivers installed for the Micro-SD card slot. There is a way to add the Micro-SD slot drivers to Kyhi's recovery tools, but not sure how to do it. Now you have a couple options...

You can use a USB hub so you can have the USB flash drive and a keyboard/mouse connected at the same time.
You can use a keyboard with a USB port on the keyboard to plug the flash drive into.
You can use the AEOMI partitioning program I Kyhi's recovery tools to create a 4.5-5 GB partition at the end of the tablet's "hard drive", format it NTFS, and copy the Windows 10 ISO file to it, and then mount it from there.

Kyhi's recovery drive allows you to run the minimal WindowsPE without the flash drive being inserted allowing you to use a keyboard/mouse, but the object now is to get the Windows 10 ISO file or install files in a location we can access with the USB flash drive removed.

I have a Dell Venue 8 Tablet without the standard USB ports so have to use an OTG/On The Go adapter to go from the power port to standard USB devices. I got my OTG from Dell when I got the Tablet.

It may or may not work because some of the Micro-USB ports are for power only and don't have the connection required for data. I didn't research the Asus tablet fully enough to know if it has a Micro-USB port that will function for data as well as a full size USB port. I just assumed there was only 1 USB port available for data.

Thanks for options NavyLCDR. I think my best option is buying a USB hub. None of my keyboards have a USB port and even though setting up the OS would probably be faster and maybe more reliable with in on the HD, I'll still need the hub just to copy it over to the SSD on the tablet. At least it sounds like there are still options and I appreciate that. Next stop is BestBuy that has them in stock! *Smile

The VivoTab Smart will work fine with a USB On The Go adapter. We ran a Micro-USB to USB 2.0 OTG adapter (from Amazon) into a powered USB Hub, so that we could easily recharge the tablet as well as running USB items that require power from the PC.

Thanks everyone for thoughts & ideas. Yes a powered USB Hub would be nice. I was able to get Windows 10 installed using the USB hub (keyboard, mouse & 8GB Flash drive) via a Micro-USB to USB cable. Was able to squeeze the Win10 OS onto the flash drive and had to be careful once I started the install process to take the flash drive out during restarts so it wouldn’t go back into Kyhi's recovery drive … then putting it back in so it could get any necessary OS files. Windows 10 booted up perfectly but I still had no Touch Screen, no Wireless Network, no Bluetooth and no support for the Micro-SD slot. I downloaded all the available drivers from the ASUS website (not much) and installed them and rebooted and things are looking good. Touch screen works and Micro-SD slot is working. Haven't got my network up yet, which is where I’m at right now and then I'll check on the Bluetooth.

Thanks so much everyone ... I couldn't have resurrected this tablet without you. If all this works out I'll try to post the concise steps that ended up working, just in case someone else has to go through this on a ASUS VivoTab Smart or something similar.

Update at 5:48pm 11/23/16: Everything is up and running except for a few programs I need to reload. Yeah!*Tongue
