    Window 10 Upgrade Headache

Thanks much for your continued help/suggestions.
Check my system specs for full info on the system. The mobo is Gigabyte GA-P55-USB3 (Rev 2) which has Intel P55 chipset, i7-870 processor. All info for mobo is here:
    http://www.gigabyte.us/products/prod...px?pid=3440#ov
Audio is: Realtek ALC892 codec. Graphics is AMD HD4670 with the driver Windows loaded (AMD ver 8.970.100.9001).
Presently my clean install is unchanged except for updates from Windows Update.
    • Does this suggest that I should first update from the exiting Microsoft chipset driver to the Intel Driver prior to updating any other Drivers?
    • Would it not be good to update audio and graphics drivers first and if my mouse delay is not fixed, then update the chipset driver to the Intel driver?
Here’s what I plan to do:
I plan to update the graphics driver for my AMD HD4670 with Catalyst 13.9. I will also update the Realtek audio to the Windows 10 driver. Some folks have reported some kind of mouse delay and traced it to video or audio drivers so I think that is the first line of attack. If it doesn’t fix it I may have to try updating the chipset driver but I’m concerned that if I update that, it may need to be done prior to updating any other driver. That's why I asked the question above. Thanks again for your help!

Tweakit, Just go for it. You're working with a bare install and that's the best time to test your plan. Make a system restore point before doing anything and at various steps along the way. You should be just fine.

That makes sense. I'll move forwards with the Graphics, Catalyst and audio drivers and continue to use the MS chipset drivers until there is a reason to replace these. Its good to know the Intel chipset drivers work in case I find a reason to use them.
Also, the mouse delay i discussed in post #25 turned out to be a false alarm. It turns out that on Win10 for certain windows, there is a rather thick blue-ish band at the top of the window. On Win7 you can place your mouse anywhere on that band to grab and move the window. Well, on 10 you can only grab the top half of the band even though the entire band is uniformly colored with no indication that only half is active! Unknowingly, I was grabbing the inactive part for several tries until it finally worked because i grabbed higher up on the band. Win7 does not do this, only win10. Strange; but there is no mouse delay on my system as previously thought.
    Thanks for the help.

Just to follow up, I installed the Catalyst display driver and Control Center following the process in your post #15 except that I used Catalyst ver 13.9 and ran it in compatibility mode for Win7. It worked just fine and I was then able to scale my extended screen.
I think it came from here: How to: Install Legacy Drivers on Windows 10 (W... | Community
Works great even with ver 13.9.
I also installed the Realtek High Definition Audio now available for Windows 10. Got those here:
    Realtek
That worked fine also and it provided the Realtek Audio Manager at the speaker icon.
    Thanks for the help!
