Windows 10: Window 10 will not run // re-setting failed

Hello Throwing this out here. I had an issue were Windows 10 froze up while in a browser, clicking tabs and tried to minimize. Nothing including my task bar a Windows start icon to re-start or shut down, would not respond. I had to manually power down.


Then started back up and got a Windows did not start normally message and dislayed it was going into Automatic Repair. It dislayed a Diagnosing your PC message and it posted a message.


It then said Windows will now repair drive C:\ adding a message it could takes an hour or more. It started "repairing drive" and I looked over and it had stopped. My desktop this is the problem, it`s clock said 11:49 and my laptop was showing 12:12. So it froze up while repairing the drive.

It sat that way for 1 hour and turned it off manually again.


On restart I got the Automatic Repair dialog that went to Diagnosing my PC, that stopped running and ofered this message,

Windows could not fix it and offers a Log F:\Windows/System32/LogFiles/Srt/Srt.Trail.text file .....??


I turned it off and got to the advance options to re-set my computer. It started to re-set and stopped.

Even trying Advanced options failed and to finialize it cannot re-set this computer. I tried both options a complete cleaning and with saving my files. Only removing my apps, they both start to run then stop.


I dont have a sytem image is why I was trying re-setting.


Can anyone offer any insight ...

When you finish testing the Avast suggestion, make sure that you restart your machine.

Then if the issue persists, please return to the trouble shooting list in post# 89

I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.

• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”

What is causing Prime 95 to keep failing all the time in the first 10 minutes?

...and what will be your next step if THAT fails to make Prime stable? More volts?

I would think you would want to be using the LEAST amount of volts possible (for heat and longevity issues). That's why I suggested you use a more scientific approach to troubleshooting your instabilty. Meaning, IF your RAM passes 10 loops of MemTest with no errors at the speed you are trying to run, AND Prime continues to fail, THEN consider giving a bump to NB, FSB and Vcore (in that order).
