Windows 10: Window Boot manager missing from BIOS

Hello everyone,

Not sure if I am posting on the correct place, if not do let me know and I will take it down.

My laptop suddenly not able to boot into Window. Everytime when I start up, it will bring me straight to BIOS. I have checked in BIOS that my Window boot option is actually missing and I tried to set the path to boot into Window again.

However, everytime when I shutdown/restart/hibernate my laptop, the Window boot option will disappear again and I have to set it up all over.

Is there any other thing that I can do to resolve this issue? I have tried looking up for solution but non of it work for me.

My Ubuntu is using the same SSD as my Window partition.

Boot Manager Is Missing

You need to use the Bootrec.exe tool in the Windows Recovery Environment. For that you need to boot into Recovery Environment and perform a "Startup Repair". If that fails then boot into WinRE again, and go to the "Command Prompt" and execute this command:

Bootrec.exe /RebuildBcd

Windows stuck in automatic repair; Can't access BIOS/ boot menu

I've changed the boot order through both BIOS and the boot manager, as my original post stated. Neither did anything, but both were functional in the past. Neither listed the windows boot manager, either. Previously, it would boot just as expected whenever
other media was set as the first option, so I'm pretty sure there are no issues there.

As my original post suggested, I've already tried out the steps you gave. I've gone through all the options listed in the boot menu, UEFI or not.

My BIOS and boot menu settings were at their defaults when all of this started, so that's been tried already, if those are what you're referring to.

Ruth Thank You for your ideas on what is wrong. My first post stated that Win 10 did an automatic update which included a restart. The restart did not happen for some reason. I was left with a black screen with BOOTMGR is missing Ctrl Alt Del to restart. Which
failed. Since then I have had a screen which stated that the "C" drive (where Win 10 is installed) is locked. Looking at my BIOS screen shows that it does NOT appear in the boot menu. The "C" has been allocated to my disc drive by the BIOS. Nothing that has
been suggested in the thread has worked to date. I cannot even do a custom install. Regards Peter
