Windows 10: Window Defender Offline Scan-W10 Ver 1903; OS build 18362.356

With this latest version I am unable to utilize the WDO scan feature. Many have suggested that I may be experiencing an issue with corrupt file that is preventing the WDO to start and go thru to completion. Previously i download from MS the necessary file to a CD-R and while this did work for awhile it suddenly stopped opening the WDO scan. Any thoughts? Thank you

Defender Periodic Scanning or Offline Scanning?

That link does suggest it's useful to use Defender offline scanning in addition to periodic scanning and a third party real time anti virus (e.g. Kaspersky).

Hi,

To further assist you with your concern with Windows Defender, follow the steps below:

• Open the Run window by pressing Window + R button.
• Then type services.msc and hit "Enter".
  
• Look for Windows defender service in the list and right click on it and select start.
• Once Windows defender is opened try to do the offline scan on that window.
