Windows 10: Window Spatial Sound "Off" but still hearing an echo

    Window Spatial Sound "Off" but still hearing an echo


    I'm using very low-tech headphones Grado SR80 so they don't have any buttons or knobs to fiddle with. Every time I try to use them for my language learning app, I hear an annoying echo like the audio is being played in a huge room. It's clearly coming from something Windows 10 is doing with software. I check to make sure the Spatial Sound setting is "Off" and it is. I sometimes toggle it to Windows Sonic for Headphones, do some more work, then toggle it back to Off, but the echo remains. I know the echo isn't part of the audio file because I've been using the app on four different systems fo

    Spatial Sound

    Hi,

    The Spatial Sound feature is available in Windows 10 but by default, it has been disabled. To enable it, follow the steps below:

    • In the notification area, right-click on the sound icon.
    • In the context menu, click on Playback devices.
    • Select your playback device and then click on Properties.
    • Click on the Spatial sound tab.
    • Select the Spatial sound format you want to apply.

    I followed the instructions but when I got to #4 spatial sound said off and there was no other info or any way to turn it on. I hit return to default but that did nothing. Please help. my earphones are off .
