Windows 10: windows 10 100 hdd utilization.

hey there i have a problem with my lenovo ideapad s340 intel i3 10th gen, 4gb of ram and 1tb of HDD. the laptop is lagging a lot and it takes 5 minutes to boot, when I checked my task manager it says that my hhd utilization is at 100%. I tried everything but nothing worked I even installed a clean copy of windows 10 and it is still the same. i am about to upgrade it to an SSD but I am not sure if it would fix the problem or not.if you have any solution please tell me its been like this for months now.

100% Disk Utilization on Windows 10

I have read all the threads on 100% disk utilization for Windows 10 and don't know what else to do to solve the problem (plus some threads go on for 38 pages). It shouldn't be this hard; looking for some suggestions. Thanks!

2. Are you aware of any changes made on your PC, prior to this issue?
   

I understand how frustrating it is if the device does not work the way it should be working, let us try few troubleshooting methods to fix this issue:

Method 1: Boot you PC in safe mode and check if the PC is working normally. Refer the following article for steps to

start your PC in safe mode.

Method 2: If the PC is working normally in safe mode, try performing clean boot to check if any application is causing this issue. Refer the following article for steps to perform

clean boot.

Method 3: Disable Windows tips.

Windows 10 Settings includes an option to display tips and tricks. Some users have linked it to the disk usage problem. You can disable tips by visiting Settings > System > Notifications & actions. Turn
off Get tips, tricks, and suggestions as you use Windows toggle button.

Method 4: Disable Windows search service.
You can temporarily turn off (it’ll re-enable when you restart) Windows Search using the command line in Windows to see if it’s causing 100% disk usage.

To do that,

1. Press CTRL + R to open the Run utility.
2. Type services.msc and press Enter.
3. Now, look for Windows Search in the list.
4. Right-click the Windows Search service and go to Properties.
5. Under the General tab, set the Startup type to Disabled.
6. Click Ok to save and continue.

Method 5: It might be possible that some malware is responsible for consuming 100% HDD resources on your computer. Try running a full scan using the inbuilt Windows Defender and check if
that helps.

Note: You might lose your corrupted data if the antivirus detects the file as corrupted.

Note: After performing reset all of your settings will be reset. All apps that you installed will be removed. Only apps that came with your PC will be reinstalled.

Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
