Windows 10: Windows 10 10240 and Netgear WNDA4100 "Unidentified Network"

i just updated Windows 7 Pro to windows 10 10240 and everything is working except the wireless card... it shows all the Wireless Networks but it wont connect via Edge or Chrome. Under adapter settings it shows Unidentified network and has a 169.254 address... we tried to release and renew the address and nothing rebooted the router nothing... im confused and cant figure it out anyone have any ideas?

Internet connection works but still "Unidentified Network"

My wireless internet works but just saw when checking control panel/network connections  it says — unidentified network. There are lots of discussions about "Unidentified Network" but it is always about that there is no internet access whatsoever. My
tech hotline just said that this is a Microsoft issue. Network driver is Realtek (10.8.311.2016). Windows 10, Version 1607, Build 14393.0. Thanks for any suggestion!

You do realize that 10240 is the RTM release, but still Trialware for testers. Things will not work correctly until the hardware mfg's get their updated drivers online around the 29th. It really depends on what Chip that Netgear used for that adapter.

Anyway, check in Device Manager to see whether win 10 thinks the wireless adapter has a driver and is working properly. Under Properties, click the Driver tab and click update driver. (Likely won't have any effect as it will probably say you already have the latest driver but it is something to do, anyway).

All hope is not lost as win 10 has updated my very old Canon S750 printer driver!

But, when all is said and done, a new USB adapter costs little so maybe get another and move on.

 

Time for a new one. Anything at EOL, will not get updated drivers for them from Microsoft or the hardware manufacturers. As for the USB Adapter, it could be that the chipset they had used in that particular adapter was either giving them issues, or they changed chips to allow it to be Universally adopted across Mac OS, Linux, Windows, Chrome OS, Steam OS.

With the Wireless AC chipsets getting really cheap all of a sudden. You are now seeing adapters with a/b/g/n becoming more common at lower prices.
