Windows 10: Windows 10/11 does not detect hdmi audio extractor

I don’t see any option to change audio output to the extractor when connected to my windows 10/11 laptop and the extractor is in either 2 or 5 channel mode. The external monitor will display my desktop. If I put the extractor in passthrough mode then audio will play through the speakers connected to the extractor but the monitor will power off and won’t display the desktop.The setup works fine when connected to a tv but not my external monitor.

You assume that the HDMI audio extractor is supposed to work.

By definition, HDMI audio extractor is a device that is trying to circumvent HDMI's security protection.

If your HDMI audio extractor works, then it works. If it doesn't work, then it doesn't work.

Intel/AMD graphics drivers govern HDMI audio. Realtek has nothing to do with it.

If your receiver has HDMI IN ports, then yes this is the best way to get the video and audio from your pc to your TV and receiver, but if your receiver does not have HDMI IN ports like my receiver, then you have to use an audio extractor.

first of all, i would like to thank you for your time and effort for explaining how to solve this problem,

actually the method you mentioned didn't work with me because my audio extractor is Hdmi to 5.1 RCA analog audio channel

also my sounds and audio in windows is showing the 5.1 option, but still the sound is not 5.1 even with windows test.

i installed kodi and followed your mentioned steps, i tried a 5.1 video test file (which kodi recognized it as 5.1) but it was also not working properly.

i think i will live with it until i find a solution and post it here
