    Hello.


    Some help and advice appreciated. A while ago I was trying to upgrade from 1803 but the update always froze at 48% and then reverted changes. Error code 0xC1900101 - 0x30018 given. Tried several things but sadly no luck and gave up. Now once again trying to update and still have same symptoms. Things I've tried so far:

    • Removed all devices / USB apart from mouse & keyboard
    • Disabled and removed antivirus
    • Updated all known drivers before update
    • Troubleshooter and manual cmd reset of updater
    • Media Creation Tool to update via USB stick

    Pretty much out of ideas and forum posts to look at so assistance is very much appreciated. I'd rather not do a full format and loose files.

    Windows update stuck at 48%

    My computer won’t update. Every time it tries, it gets to 48% then freezes. It then reverts back to the previous version. I used to get stuck at 44% read thread for details.

    Error: 0xC1900101-0x30018 Installation failed in the FIRST_BOOT phase with an error during SYSPREP_SPECIALIZE operation.

    Computer: Alienware 15 R3

    Current version: 1803, OS build 17134.1304

    Pending Version: 1809 x64 2020-05B

    Please let me know if anything else is needed to help diagnose my problem! I keep ignoring the update but it has been trying to install for months. Thank you all.
