    Windows 10 1803 Updated deleted "deadlinked" shortcuts from desktop


    Window 10 1803 appears to include a feature that cleans all dead linked icons off of the desktop. Unfortunately it deletes more than just this. I had a shortcut to excel with a command line switch included in the shortcut, and that was also deleted. I also had a shortcut to a file that was not an *.EXE, that was also cleaned off. To be honest, this "feature" is not desired at all. I can clean up my own desktop just fine, but you should at least fix it to work as intended. Thanks.

    Windows 10 commands/shortcuts/env. var.

    Keyboard shortcuts to open programs:

    Create a shortcut on the desktop to whatever program you want. Right click -> Properties and fill in the field there. Sadly the shortcut needs to remain on the desktop, but you can hide it.

    Fun fact: If you had keyboard shortcuts for programs pinned to your Windows 7 start menu, those shortcuts still work when you update to Windows 10.

    Win10: windows update stuck at never ending loop ?

    When in win10:
    • Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....
    Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
    - Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.
