Windows 10: Windows 10 1809 update unleashed multiple problems

Hello after the windows 10 1809 update, I cannot change some of the default programs. The two I want to change default email and default web browser. When I go default programs and click Google Chrome on the default changes to either one, the program closes the screen I was on and nothing changes. I double check and again nothing has changed. I don't even use Microsoft Edge but I noticed I can't even open the Microsoft edge program. I have tried the reset and fix options for it also It will still not open. After the update, all my restore points were gone. That's, not an option. I don't want to uninstall the latest update. That could compromise my security. I have run all the Dism online cleanup commands. I have run the sfc/scannow command. I DO NOT want to go nuclear and do a PC reset. The computer is still useable. Minor problems that only surfaced after the 1809 update. Please DO NOT tell me to use to Dism online cleanup commands, sfc file checker commands, and the fix/repair/reset functions for Microsoft Edge none of those solutions have worked. They have all been run 5 times or more each. Again I DO NOT want to do PC reset. These are the solutions that have been offered to me over and over on other websites. If anyone had a similar problem and fixed it I could use some help I have 6-8 hours on fixing this googling solution, Youtube videos, and asking questions on web forums. After installing windows 1809 multiple problems

After installing windows 1809 I have multiple problems. I was unable to reload 1803 since settings (among other problems) did not work.

Are there any updates available to 1809 or is there a new release scheduled to correct all the 1809 problems?

 

Windows 10 upgrade problem, no input accepted

I really hate having to come here and ask for help, but I really am stumped. It hurts my geek pride. I have a PC with fairly modern hardware in it. It has a p8p67 pro in it. I have tried upgrading windows 10 on it twice now. Both times I have had the same result.

After windows finishes upgrading it goes to the log in/set up screen. I can't do anything. No keyboard or mouse input is accepted.

I will list some, or hopefully all, of the troubleshooting steps I have tried:

• Move keyboard and mouse to different USB ports.
• Try different keyboard or mouse.
• Restart computer, repeatedly.
• Google for related issues.
• Update Bios, because why not.
• Create boot media and revert to windows 7.

The windows 10 system restore boot media works fine with keyboard and mouse. All USB ports work in windows 7. I don't know what is wrong. I suspect that windows 10 is lacking a driver of some sort, but since the computer accepts no input I have no way of checking for which driver let alone installing it.

Please help me figure this out. If I have to revert back to windows 7 again, I am not going to get it upgraded to windows 10. Thank you in advanced.

It's basically what I mentioned above, small issues here and there ,but nothing to end your day.. for the most part.

I know it's anecdotal, but for my experience 95% of the time it's perfectly fine. The issues I've run into wouldn't be enough for me to roll back , but they would be enough (had I not installed it yet) ,to avoid it for another couple weeks which is why I'm suggesting it to the OP
