Windows 10: windows 10 1909 desk top has no icons and no access to windows button or task manager

Hi, yesterday windows 10 1909 failed and went to blue screen with error message and said it would be restarted, upon restarting it performed a disk scan, then rebooted to the logon screen, after logging in using my account pin, the task bar appears and background picture but nothing else i have no desktop icons or taskbar icons, when i try CNTRL-ALT-DEL the box appears however when I select task manager i get the blue circle and nothing else, there is no access to the windows button or icon in the bottom right corner nor search bar and no access to these features using the various CNTRL key combinations.


My imedia PC was running fine up until this issue occurred, i had only been using some home schooling web sites, i have Norton antivirus and have never previously had any performance issues with this albeit older PC.


If anyone has any advise on how i can get my PC working or be able to access some system functions to enable me to gain access again it would be greatly appreciated.

Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
