  1. Windows 10 1909 Problem Recognizing Partitions on Seagate External Hard Drive Device

I own two 4TB Seagate BUP BL SCSI Disk Devices. I am an American living in China. I bought them in China. I have attempted to contact Seagate's English speaking online technical support with no luck. I can't select my region, China, and language, English; I can only select "China" and "Chinese." My Chinese isn't good enough to navigate their Chinese website. Even then, their Chinese website as well as their English website does not recognize my serial numbers, so I cannot get support. I sent an e-mail to their pre-sales support in hopes that they will reply but I'm not holding my breath. I cannot call their 800 number from China, either.

I have also searched for my problem on Google looking for specific questions in the Microsoft Community about this. I cannot find an answer, so I'm writing this out to the community in hopes that someone knows a fix.

I have a 2012 MacBook Pro Bootcamp. The Mac OS is Catalina updated it two days ago. The PC OS is Windows 10 1909 updated it two days ago. On one of my external hard drive devices, I have nine partitions 6 ExFat of 550 Gb each; 2 Journalled which I use for Mac Time Machine Backups; 1 NTFS of 50 Gb. On the other external hard drive device, I have 4 partitions 3 FAT32 of 1 TB each; 1 NTFS of 1 TB. My Mac OS recognizes all partitions on both devices. My Windows OS does not.

When I log into Windows, under Disk Management, on my 9-partition device, the system reads 3 ExFat partitions and conflates the rest of the space as "unallocated space." On my other device, under Disk Management, the system reads 2 ExFat partitions, 1 NTFS, and the rest of the space registers as "unallocated space." The aggregate size that the system reads on each device amounts to a little under 2 TB of the total disk space on each device. It seems as if the system can only read 2 TBs of space per device. Is that so? I use my Windows system more than my Mac system. I would like to be able to read all ExFat and FAT32 partitions on Windows.

On my 9-partition device, I don't want to create a new simple volume out of the space that is registering as "unallocated space" because it has data on it. But just to see what I can do with that space, I right click on it under Disk Management, and all of the options except for "Properties" and "Help" are greyed out. On my 4-partition device, under Disk Management, it's the same, all options except for Properties and Help are greyed out. I've plugged them into different USB ports and switched cables. It seems to be system-related.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

    :)

  2. Windows 10 1909 Causes Secondary Hard Drive to not be Recognized

Installing the Windows 10 1909 Update causes my secondary hard drive to not be recognized.

    Steps to confirm issue:

    • Secondary drive not visible in Windows Explorer
    • Secondary drive not visible in device manager
    • Secondary drive not visible in disk manager

    Steps to replicate issue:

    • Installing 1909 update

    Steps to resolve issue:

    • Uninstall 1909 update

Since updates can only be delayed for so long, an actual fix would be appreciated.

Windows 10 1909 Problem Recognizing Partitions on Seagate External Hard Drive Device

USB 3.0 Seagate SATA External Hard Drive Not Recognized Win. 10

I recently purchased a Seagate Momentus 5400.6 hard drive and a Sabrent USB 3.0 SATA Hard Drive flat docking station to connect via usb to my Dell XPS L702x laptop. Upon putting the hard drive in the external enclosure and connecting to my laptop via usb my computer is not recognizing this external hard drive in disk management. I can see it in device manager and it is listed as "Jmicron SCSI Disk Device". I can also see it in devices and printer listed as "Jmicron". However it is not recognized or listed in disk management and file explorer. I am a novice when it comes to hardware issues as I am more of a software guy but I have tried everything I can find on the net to no avail. ie uninstalling and installing the drivers, using seagate utilities (I cannot also see it in Seagates applications), disabling fast startup, windows devices and printers troubleshooting, etc. I suspect (maybe incorrectly) that this device is showing up as "Jmicron SCSI disk device" instead of a SATA drive but that is coming from someone who again does not know alot about the device/hardware side. I would like to make this external drive a full backup for my windows 10 laptop and any assistance that could be provided would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks for any help you may be!
