Windows 10: Windows 10 1909 Upgrade Freezes at 48%

I am having problem with Windows 10 1909 Upgrade Freezes at 48%. Tried installation twice and failed. Any suggestion on how to complete the upgrade ? Please advise.

Windows 10 1909 Upgrade Freezes at 48%

As with every Windows upgrade since 1703, my latest attempt to upgrade (1909) froze at 48%.

For some of the attempts, I left the my laptop running overnight. On this attempt, I let it sit for 3 hours.

HP Envy 17 Laptop - Dual booted (Windows 10 Ver 1703 [ntfs] on 750 GB drive sda, Linux Mint 19.2 [ext4] on 750 GB drive sdb) - Grub on sda MBR

All external devices were disconnected on upgrade attempt. Note: I did have my hard wire (Ethernet) cable still attached, and turned off the internal wifi.

SInce some of the responses from others that had similar issues with previous version upgrades wanted the log files, I am including the following log file links:

Panther_setupact: Panther_setupact.log

Panther_setuperr: Panther_setuperr.log

Rollback_setupact: Rollback_setupact.log

Rollback_setuperr: Rollback_setuperr.log

Rollback_setupapi.dev: Rollback_setupapi.dev.log

Any help in getting a successful upgrade without a clean install would be appreciated.

Windows 10 1909 Upgrade Freezes at 48%

Okay, I guess I should consider this issue 'resolved', but not necessarily 'solved'.

After turning off a couple of 'unused' devices in preparation for another 1909 upgrade attempt, my 1703 installation was 'hosed'. With that said, and having thankfully done a very recent data backup, I decided to do a clean 1909 install.

Overall, the 1909 install was fairly uneventful. The issues started after the reinstating my software and data, as well as, trying to 'personalize' my working environment. Two 1909 installs later, I got everything back to normal.

Lesson learned: Make a restore point backup between major software installs and configuration changes.

Windows 10 1909 Causes Secondary Hard Drive to not be Recognized

Installing the Windows 10 1909 Update causes my secondary hard drive to not be recognized.

Steps to confirm issue:

• Secondary drive not visible in Windows Explorer
• Secondary drive not visible in device manager
• Secondary drive not visible in disk manager

Steps to replicate issue:

• Installing 1909 update

Steps to resolve issue:

• Uninstall 1909 update

Since updates can only be delayed for so long, an actual fix would be appreciated.
