    Windows 10 1920x1200 with no Monitor plugged in


    My PC is at a data center without a monitor plugged in.

    I use TeamViewer to connect to the PC.

    Since no monitor is plugged in I get the generic non-pnp monitor in device manager when in safe mode.

    I believe it is this that is causing the resolution of 1920x1200 not to be available.

    The max resolution is 1600x1200.

    The display driver is installed correctly.


    Is there any way to force windows to allow the 1920x1200 resolution, without a monitor being plugged in?

    24" dell 1920x1200

    So 1920x1200 is 16:10 and 1920x1080 is 16:9. If you do 16:9 on a 16:10 monitor it will either be stretched or have bars. You will need to step down to 1650x1050 or so to retain the 16:10 ratio.

    Windows 10 recent update in December did not support monitor DELL 2405FPW resolution 1920X1200

    I did Windows 10 update in December 2017 and it took 1.5 hours and destroyed my monitor DELL2405FPW resolution 1920X1200. Our IT person had attempted to find solution without success and restored it to previous version of Windows 10. Windows 10 has been
    trying to update to new version and it is invasive. It started updating today itself and I had to abrupt installation and restore previous version. Our IT support stated that I had to dump good monitor because no driver available for DELL2405FPW to support
    resolution 1920X1200. I see that some other people experienced similar problems with drivers after Microsoft created new Windows 10 version. I hope there is solution for my issue, because I like my monitor that has been working for me very well. Thank you.

    Windows 10 Tweaks

    Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

    Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
