    Windows 10 20.04 update - issues with logon scripts not running right


    Been fooling with Windows 10 20.04 update. I put it on 4 PCs at home, no major issues.

    Started experimenting on a few test PCs at work, running Windows 10 Enterprise on a corporate LAN. Was running Windows 1909 all drive mappings worked fine. SMB1 is installed due to an older server we have issues with to upgrade.

    I found that logon scripts now take 15 minutes to complete and when they do drives mapped to a Windows 2003 server will not connect. Even clicking on them in Explorer starts a progress bar and it never connects.

    If I run an UNmap command "net use * /d /y" which takes about 15 minutes to complete and I reboot it runs the logon script fine on the next boot and drives connect OK. But a reboot after that back to slow logon script and drives that won't connect. As long as I run the unmap command before a reboot it's fine for the next boot.

    I am unable to change the logon script to run the unmap command first - they are inaccessible to me because of security measures.

    Anyone else seen this?

    GPOs not running logon scripts

    Greetings,

    we have an environment of 2 DCs running WS 2008R2 and applying several GPOs. The GPOs that have a user logon script (vbs or ps1) can not run. At the same time, if we run the vbs scripts from a pc on the domain they run successfully. Any suggestions would
    be appreciated!

    Hi,

    The long-running script error usually occurs when there are issues with Internet Explorer.

    To resolve your concern, we suggest turning off the scripting debugger in Internet Explorer 11. Please follow these steps:

    • Open Internet Explorer.
    • Click the Settings icon at the top-right corner, then select Internet Options.
    • On the Advanced tab, uncheck Disable script debugging (Internet Explorer) and
      Disable script debugging (Other).
    • Click Apply, then OK.

    Once done, check if the issue will still persist.

    Update us with the outcome so we can provide further assistance.

    Logon script runs at startup and not at user logon

    I have 3 PCs, and my logon script in my Group Policy (C:\WINDOWS\System32\GroupPolicy\User\Scripts\Logon) runs as expected at user logon in all 3 PCs. However, in my fourth PC, the logon script runs at startup prior to a user logging onto this PC. I cannot seem to figure out the reason; can anyone please help me?
