Windows 10: Windows 10 2004 fails to install - 0xc1900101 - 0x40017 The installation failed in the...

Hello,

i'm currently on Windows 10 x64 1909 Build 18363.1016 and today my Windows Update finally prompted me to install version 2004.

Unfortunately it failed 2 times while updating through Windows Update.

I went through steps 1-4 over here with no success: Fix Windows Update errors by using the DISM or System Update Readiness tool

Then i downloaded the MediaCreationTool2004 and it failed again but gave me the most useful error message so far the one in the Subject on top.


I was reading through the Setupact.log and Setuperr.log in the panther folder but couldn't find any info, i uploaded them:

Error with windows update, trying to install the November update of windows 10

0xC1900101-0x40017
The Installation failed in the SECOND_BOOT phase with an error during BOOT operation.

I have done the DISM stuff the SFC stuff and even did a full CLEAN install of windows 10 losing all my programs and that's how i got the error i listed above. I downloaded the patch using the Windows Media tool as the windows update wont seem to download it and say it will try again later. It always seems to fail on one of the restarts.

Any Idea how to get the November update installed? Oh and now some of my programs are saying im missing MSVCP100.dll and trying to go to the download page at Microsoft just says try again later.

 

Error 0xc1900101 0x40017 when updating to 2004

Hi, I am trying to update my windows 10 pro from 1909 to 2004. I tried already 3 times, the first twos with windows update and the latest with the iso. However they end with the same result with the error 0xc1900101 - 0x40017 "the installation failed in
the second_boot phase with an error during boot operation".

I found this page https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/upgrade/resolution-procedures but I don't have Citrix VDA
installed (I don't know even what is its purpose) so I can't follow the solution steps.

Has anyone got any suggestion? Aside for a clean install. Thank you

 

Update to Windows 10 2004 fails, error 0xC1900101-0x40017

on my desktop computer (Intel Z170 chipset, integrated graphics), the update to Windows 10 2004 keeps failing, probably in the second boot phase. The update was offered in Windows Update (no manual installation). I removed all unnecessary hardware and updated
drivers, but I don't succeed. It seems that during boot, the system crashes. SetupDiag.exe gives the error 0xC1900101-0x40017.

Does anybody have hints on what I can do to find out what goes wrong?
