    Windows 10 20H2 build 19042.964 only sees 24GB of 32GB installed RAM


    Hi, I am using an Asus X299 TUF Mark 1 MOBO with the latest BIOS and memory modules from the QVL list. All four sticks are OK when installed individually. CPU-Z sees all four but OS reports only 3 slots are occupied. BIOS also recognizes all four modules. Any ideas?

    Which CPU are you using? 4 core supports dual channel RAM, 6 core and up quad channel.

    You could try booting the PC with a single DIMM. Try the DIMM in each of the four slots you've used. (I know that there will be a specific slot recommended for a single DIMM, but I hope that the PC will boot with a stick in an arbitrary slot.)

    I had something similar with an AMD based system. Turned out to be a defective CPU socket. I suppose that something similar could happen with an Intel LGA system. The similarity is that I believe the memory controller on current AMD and Intel models resides on the CPU, not the motherboard chipset.

    i inserted new RAM [32GB] but rather 32GB shows usable 24GB is RAM mal

    i inserted new RAM [32GB DDR2 used chips ECC] but rather 32GB shows usable 24GB is RAM malfunction????? on boot i get error slot 2...well?
