Windows 10: Windows 10 20H2 clean install freezes while Windows Update is running.

I have an HP laptop (ab522tx) and it recently just froze while I was on the desktop, talking over discord or something. It didn't respond to any key combos, no CTRL ALT DEL, no nothing.

So I pressed and held the power button to shut it down. But when I went to start it up again, it froze on the login screen.

I tried rescue options, including removing updates and resetting windows, but it would still freeze after 5-10 seconds once login screen showed up ( I could get in till desktop if I type my password fast enough ).

So I went ahead and cleared all partitions from my Gigabyte SSD and reinstalled from a 20H2 bootable ( made with Rufus 3.09 on another W10 laptop).

But same things started happening once I ran Windows Update to get the new drivers.

If would freeze on either: Installing Cumulative update 2020-10 : 16%

Or

Installing INTEL Corporation - Display : 16% ~ 18%

I've ran SFC and DISM with no luck.

I created a restore point just after a clean install which still restores the laptop to working condition, just without any drivers.

I read the latest known issues but don't find anything related. (Unless Realtek is related to Conexant)

I can get it working again to generate and send logs or try any fix.

It's my main machine and it's dead since a week. Anything will help.

Clean Windows 10 (?PRO?) install

I have bought a legit "Windows 10 Pro" key of a key website. It is legit since i'm currently using it for over a year now. I currently have Windows 10 Pro installed on my PC and I want to do a clean install. I just can't find the windows 10 Pro download in the tool. But if i could use a windows 10 pro key with a normal windows 10 install, I'll be good to go.

 

Is it time for Windows 10 already?

Windows 10 fully updated. Mouse freezes now and then.

i have a clean install of windows 10.

it started after windows updated to something.

then first my mouse stopped working and got detected as a keyboard. I had to reinstall the drivers to make it work again. Since then this is happening.

Let me try uninstalling the updates.
