Windows 10: Windows 10 20H2: Taskbar jumplists not working, shortcut open in new window not working,...

For the fourth time when I upgrade Windows 10 1909 to 20H1/20H2, the options on the title totally not working.


For information, the jumplists on the taskbar do not work at all.

Pinned Quick Access such as Documents, Downloads, Music on File Explorer and Tasks such as New window, New InPrivate window on Microsoft Edge and other browsers do not work at all. No matter how many times I clicked on it nothing happens.


Next is clicking open in new window in context menu on folder shortcuts do not trigger anything.


Multiple options on Win + X or right click Start menu do not work. The options are Mobility Center, Event Viewer, Device Manager, Disk Management, Computer Management, Command Prompt, Command Prompt Admin, Windows PowerShell, Windows PowerShell Admin, Task Manager, and File Manager


This isn't the first time I had these issue, I had seen them when I upgrade since version 20H1 is released. For multiple times I was forced to revert back to version 1909 due to these issues.


Any help is appreciated as this time I may permanently stay at version 20H2 as version 1909 is near the end of support.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Keyboard shortcuts to open programs:

Create a shortcut on the desktop to whatever program you want. Right click -> Properties and fill in the field there. Sadly the shortcut needs to remain on the desktop, but you can hide it.

Fun fact: If you had keyboard shortcuts for programs pinned to your Windows 7 start menu, those shortcuts still work when you update to Windows 10.

I hate the fact that the control panel classic is missing from windows 10. My work around was simply to type in control panel in the start menu search bar and then pin the resulting control panel shortcut to the start menu quick access panel or taskbar

I think I'm unwilling to change with the times *Smile
