Windows 10: Windows 10 21H1 update gives error 0xC1900101

This is getting ridiculous now that I have tried to install the 21H1 update it has proven impossible to do so. As always I get error 0xC1900101. I have tried so many reboots that I am surprised the hard drive is not crashed. Clean boots, disable drivers, change system settings to hide all Microsoft services, and disable non-Microsoft services all fail with the same error. The only thing I have yet to try is a clean install of Windows 10!

Unable to upgrade one of the system to Windows 10 Update Error 0xC1900101 - 0x20004

Thank you for the reply. I read both of those threads already.

1. Resetting BIOS. I flashed BIOS to the latest version. Currently running default settings. No change.

2. Andre da Costa brings up a list of reasons. For error 0xC1900101-0x20017 he says refer to error 0xc000021a.

2a. Regarding his troubleshooting steps for error 0xc000021a. He says to wipe the drive and switch from NTFS to GPT. This is incorrect. If this was true, then no one could update from Windows 7 to Windows 10 without a clean install. Beyond which, I updated
my first desktop from Windows 7 to Windows 10 when it was running Windows 7 on NTFS.

2b. Regarding his additional troubleshooting steps for error 0xC1900101-0x20017. He has a number of suggestions, such as disabling peripherals. I tried all of these for both .iso and USB installs. No luck.

Any other suggestions?

I got rid of all my virus protection and I tried again, but now I have windows defender on there (built into Windows 10) I don't even know how it works on windows 7. I cant get rid of it and I tried installing windows 10 again, but no use.
