    Windows 10 32bit May 2021 Freezes at Boot logo screen with VT-d Enabled


    After many hours of researching 100's of machines locking up in our environment I am posting this thread incase anybody finds a fix or to save others the pain I've been through...Upgrading a working Windows 32bit install to 20H1 or 20H2 from May 2021 will cause boot failure if Vt-d is enabled in the bios. This is also the case if you install a fresh copy using Media Creation or Downloaded ISO'sWe started noticing this issue as users took the Feature Upgrades in Late May 2021, it seemed a bit random at first because depending on BIOS defaults for vt-d.     Unable to install Windows Pro 1803, April 2018 Update - Setup freezes at Windows logo during boot

    BINGO!!!

    Disabled VT-d and rebooted.

    System again, boots to Windows Logo... and ... after 4 mins or so of disk activity... circle animation and setup actually starts. Wow! Just finished installing 1803 and is working. So to test this VT-d setting. I re-entered BIOS and re-enabled VT-d.
    Reboot system and it hangs at the Windows Logo again. Rebooted, enter BIOS and disabled VT-d again. This time, system boots and enters Windows. Guess 1803 does not like this setting on in BIOS.

    Updating to Windows 10 version 1803 freezes on the Windows logo upon reboot

    I have the same problem. Windows 1803 will not boot and hangs at the splash screen.

    I disconnected everything and even disconnected all the HDs in my computer and the disc will not boot either (also hangs at splash screen without the spinning circle). Computer is 100% frozen. CTRL+ALT+DEL won't work and pressing num lock will not toggle
    the light.

    Hard rebooted the system and went into the bios to disable VT-d (as per Seth_N_Michel's post) and now Windows Spring Creators Update (1803) boots without freezing from the disc and from rebooting after installing through the existing Windows install.

    Hope Microsoft will fix this issue soon!
