    Windows 10 64bit desktop won't auto refresh

For some reason this started recently, or at least I only started to notice it in the last week or two...

If I move something to the trash bin, and then empty the bin, it disappears from the bin. However, if I start an app or do something else, and then come back to the desktop even a minute or so afterward, the deleted file is still present on the desktop.

If I go to delete it again, it tells me it's no longer there. So it's been deleted, but the desktop just doesn't register the fact.

In order for me to fully update the desktop, I have to right click 'Refresh' which updates the desktop to how it should be.

I've carried out steps to recreate this and it happens every time without fail, so it's not intermittent.

Steps I've tried in order to fix it:

    - I've tried resetting folder/file views. - Doesn't work

    - I've tried to Regedit QWORD/DWORD DontRefresh - doesn't work

    - I'm already fully up to date on Windows updates. I'm on 20H2 with all the latest updates. It updated on 21/01... I don't remember if this problem started around then but certainly for a few weeks?

    - I don't have any network drives or iCloud or anything else.

    - My display drivers are fully up to date already.

    - I don't have any strange startup items under Task Manager in short, I keep a very clean computer in terms of bloatware/ things I don't use/ ensuring it remains efficient.

    - I've checked for disk errors and ran SFC commands, all fixed from that side of things.

I'm a bit lost for solutions now. Any thoughts?

    I run a Windows 10 Pro 64bit

    16 GB RAM

    :)

  2. Desktop Won`t Refresh On Windows 10

My desktop looks awful and I can`t refresh it. The icons are totally white and they`re scattered all over the place. The laptop is only 2 days old and HP support will not help me. I tried f5 but it does nothing. Thanks, Debi

  4. Windows 10 64bit desktop won't auto refresh

Refreshing Desktop auto arranges Desktop Icons!

    I'm running Windows 10 Pro (version 1803 OS Build 17134.228 - a/o Aug 15, 2018)

It appears some recent update has decided to ignore my Desktop settings and auto arrange all my Desktop Icons whenever I refresh my Desktop (right click background / left click Refresh) even though My Desktop "View" option has "Auto Arrange" unchecked.

DesktopOK saves my butt but the Desktop shouldn't "Auto Arrange" unless I ask it to.
