Windows 10: windows 10 activation code

hi there..
i have a really big concern
i had windows 10 64 bit in my laptop and since counter strike game didnt support 64 bit i downloaded windows 10 pro 32 bit and formatted the pc with it..
and now the windows is not genuine,,how can i get the genuine product key code for it since i already had it for the 64 bit,
i dont wanna pay again..tried using the free codes from the internet too none of then work.
what should i do..please help

What if I don't like Windows 10 and want to go back to 7

That's a really good question. Does accepting the upgrade make your Windows 7 activation code invalid? Does your Windows 7 activation code become a Windows 10 activation code, or is there a Windows 10 activation code?

 

Factory reset windows 10

If Windows 10 is activated on your computer now, it remains activated forever (unless you change the motherboard.)

Activation tells Microsoft that Windows 10 is installed on the same computer it was originally installed on. So even if you do a factory reset, as long as you re-install Windows 10 on the same computer, it remains activated. No need to enter a license.

As Windows 10 is re-installing it is re-calculating your activation code. Then it compares the recalculated activation code to the activation code that was calculated when you (or your computer manufacturer) originally installed Windows 10. If the two activation
codes match, Windows knows it's being installed on the same computer. Your computer will be automatically re-activated without needing to enter a license.

When you change the motherboard, that's considered a different computer for activation purposes. The activation code of the computer with the new motherboard is not going to be the same as the original activation code for the computer when it had the original
motherboard.

 

Did you have Windows 10 Pro 64 bit before? Or was it Home? The keys are not compatible if you switch between*home and pro.

If this is a store bought computer HP, Dell then you probably had a OEM license (these are usually embedded in the motherboard). If you downloaded a Windows ISO to install these are retail and won't work with your key. You need to request install media from the computer manufacturer to re-install with.

 

i dont know whether this is store bought or not..coz i got is as a second hand pc and windows 1 064 bit was already installed in it..

i remembered.. i used a media creation tool to install the winndows 10 pro version..and my previous 64 bit also had the pro version.
it had told me that you dont need to re activate it since i ws only downgrading it to 32 bit

Two things to help us out.

Right click on the start icon. Select Command Prompt (Admin). Run the following command:

slmgr /dlv

Post a screenshot of the results here. Then run showkey plus from this forum. Click on the product keys in the result to blank them out. Post that result here.

Neemobeer's post, btw, is completely erroneous for Windows 8 and 10, and mostly erroneous for Windows 7, so don't let his comments worry you.

Nope, the iso's are not channel specific - a retail or OEM key will be accepted. No need for OEM discs any longer as all editions are now available via MCT.

 

Your post #9 screenshot shows that the computer came with Windows 7 installed on it, but we can't tell if it was Windows 7 Home or Pro. With that type of Windows 7 marker in firmware, there should have been a COA (Certificate of Authenticity) sticker on the computer which would have a product key printed on it, and also tell you the version of Windows 7 it would be good for. That will tell you which version of Windows 10 the upgrade was good for. On some laptops the COA sticker is actually under the battery.

Since you purchased the computer second hand and have now wiped out the activation information that was previously on it, we have no way of knowing how the previous installation of Windows 10 was activated on it. I would try installing Windows 10 Home on it and see if it activates from a previously stored Digital License. Not Single Language Edition, not "N" edition. Just plain Windows 10 Home. The plain Windows 10 ISO file you download from Microsoft will have both Home and Pro editions in it.

Regarding Neemobeer's posts, this is exactly why I stated that he was only partially in error regarding Windows 7 OEM. There are two types of Windows OEM activations. OEM:SLP and OEM:COA. The particular computer you have is supposed to have both.

OEM:SLP is the manufacturer specific disc that Neemobeer is posting about. It will contain the license for Windows 7 on the disc itself. The license won't activate itself, however, unless it finds the matching Windows 7 OEM marker in firmware. Computers that used OEM:SLP are supposed to also have COA stickers on them with printed product keys that allow the user to install and activate vanilla Windows downloaded from Microsoft - which is the second type of OEM activation that Neemobeer is in error about (or at least failed to mention).

OEM:COA activation uses actual product keys for Windows activation. The product key can be either printed on a label - or with Windows 8, 8.1 and 10 stored in BIOS/UEFI. An OEM:COA product key, whether it is printed on the label or stored in BIOS/UEFI, will activate the standard vanilla Windows downloaded from Microsoft.
