Windows 10: Windows 10 Activation Error 0x80fa067 Clean Install New OEM Key

Just installed Windows 10 Pro on a Lenovo ThinkPad X200 laptop, which has never had Win 10 installed on it before. Originally shipped with Windows 7 Pro. I know that you can no longer use Windows 7 or 8.1 keys to activate 10, but the key I am using is an unused OEM Windows 10 Pro key from an OEM system builder pack I purchased from Amazon in 2021 when Windows 10 was still current. Just before Win 11 was released. I keep getting error 0x80fa067 when activating over the Internet claiming that the key is invalid. Running slmgr.vbs /dlv in elevated CMD returned the info in the attached image.

Hope this is not against the rules. If you do a clean install of Windows 10, it may, (has for me) accept a Win 7 OEM key and activate.

Generally the upgrade has to be done first, before a clean install can be done, and it's not really relevant to transferring the key to another system.

"Flavors" of Windows licenses

Windows can be a little "odd" about license keys. There are at least 4 categories:

• Retail
• OEM
• Volume (electronic download)
• Corporate (no key needed)

For guaranteed success, the license key and media should be in the same category. If you have retail media, you may not be able to install it using an OEM or Volume license key, even though the key is valid for that version of Windows. *Wtf :wtf: Apparently, this is part of Microsoft's anti-piracy scheme (i.e., all customers are guilty until proven innocent).
