Windows 10: Windows 10 Activation error. Cannot find digital license from free Win10 upgrade

Hello,Earlier this year I built a new computer. I took the hard drives from the old build and put them in the new build. I'd previously upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 on my old build using the free upgrade option. I can't locate any product key or digital license to activate Windows on my new build. The Activation icon does not help. I tried using my old build in Microsoft.com to activate Windows on my new build but this did not work either. Is there a way I can recover that digital license from the free upgrade or will I have to purchase a new license?

From Why can't I activate Windows?

If you upgraded to Windows 10 for free and ended up in a non-activated state, try following these steps:

• Go to Start
  
  , then select Settings > Update & security > Activation.
• Select Go to Store, and check to see if a valid license is available for your device. If a license isn't available, you'll need to buy Windows from the Store.

  • This only applies if you haven't made changes to the hardware for your device.

or you could hack it with a crack but please note this is always risky and you don't know what's in the hack

 

Windows 10 upgrade license

Hello guys,

I have 1 license of WIndows 8.1 FPP/retail license. I want to upgrade to WIndows 10, but I one thing is unclear to me.
If I upgrade, will WIndows 10 license be retail or it will "turn" into some sort of OEM license?

I ask this because I upgrade my PC, you know, more memory, replace HDD, and I intend to upgrade the MB and CPU to Kaby Lake platform sometime in the future, (and of course sell the replaced hardware)
This thing is not clearly mentioned anywhere.
