Windows 10: WIndows 10 activation on new hardware

I've upgraded my hardware today and I've moved my SSD and HDD to the new PC to skip the reinstalation process. I've upgraded to windows 10 for free some 5 or 6 years ago while I had windows 8.1 installed. Now I have been prompted to activate my windows. I am aware that the new hardware has its unique ID and my question is if there is a way to activate it again even though it has been activated on the previous PC without purchasing a new key?


Is there a way to resolve this issue?

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

I won't buy a key, stupid.

I'll revert back to windows 7 then.

When I still was on windows 7, about a year ago I added 4GB extra ram which is a total of 8GB now,
is that causing the problem?

 

Windows 10 Activation (Insider)

This kinda sucks. However, if one is upgrading from a retail W7/8, then it should activate on different hardware, with possible phone activation required if it's been over 120 days or whatever the timeout period is now since the last activation. Remember to erase the copy on the old hardware, of course.
