Windows 10: Windows 10 Activation

Hi there,


Last week I had to replace practically the entire insides of my laptop. I had Windows 10 activated before then and now when I put in the product key it says that I can't activate with that key on the device. I run troubleshooter and I follow the link stating that I recently replaced the hardware. It finds my laptop, I click the box that states this is the device I'm using right now, it says its reactivating then it says unable to activate Windows on this device. Try again later.


I think that the Windows key that I had was for Windows 7 Home Premium which I get is an older product but when I used that key a few months ago to activate the Windows Home 10 it was fine so I don't get why it's not working now I have gutted my computer.

Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

I won't buy a key, stupid.

I'll revert back to windows 7 then.

When I still was on windows 7, about a year ago I added 4GB extra ram which is a total of 8GB now,
is that causing the problem?
