    Windows 10 Administrator password vs MS Account Password


    Shortly after converting from WIN 7 to WIN 10, I had a message from MS to setup my account password.

    This I did. It also had me do the PIN code for logging into my PC. Dell Laptop.


    Previously I had a theoretical Administrator PW of ABCD1234


    MS didn't like it and told me to create a more stringent one. SO I created a theoretical PW of ABCD@1234! for the MS Account.


    I created a theoretical pin of 9999


    I can log in using my PIN fine.

    I can log into the computer using the MS Account Password.

    This appears to have changed my administrator PW. My "Administrator PW" ABCD1234 was no longer functioning for boot up.

    USING the MS ACCOUNT PW ABCD@1234! to "boot up/log in" does allow me administrator privileges on this PC.

    Using the PIN 9999 boots up/logs in, too but again administrator privileges.


    NOW, I needed to boot in SAFE MODE for a different issue and the MS ACCOUNT PW ABCD@1234! will not boot this PC in SAFE MODE.

    The old ADMIN PW ABCD1234 will also NOT boot the PC in SAFE MODE. It doesn't want the PIN CODE.


    I've looked at Computer Management\Local Users and Groups\Users\Administrators = RESET Password

    BUT I'm scared to death to change it based on the message: "Resetting the password might cause irreversible loss...."


    So the questions are:

    1. Why can I not use the MS ACCOUNT PW which boots up the PC as administrator to boot up in SAFE MODE?

    2. Do I still have a separate Local PC Administrator PW?

    3. Why did the MS ACCOUNT change my local PC Administrator PW?

    4. Do I keep a Separate ADMIN PW from the MS ACCOUNT PW?

    5. Does Using Comp MGMT ADMIN RESET PW really cause the nasty it describes?

    6. Does Changing Comp MGMT ADMIN RESET UNDO the MS ACCOUNT PW somehow?


    I appreciate a SIMPLE answer as I'm a simpleton...

    NT Password Reset will remove the password from your local administrator account (or any other account). Quite easy and straight forward to use.

    Hello everyone!

    So, i've updated my PC to Windows 10 and i have a little problem.

    Anyone knows how to auto-logon without asking for password using Hotmail/MS Account? I i've already tried the trick using "netplwiz" from Windows 8 wich always worked totally, and in Win10 it just does not work, it keeps asking me for password...

    Anyone knows how to bypass this without having to create a local account?
