  2. windows 7 along with windows 10

Bought a laptop about 6 months ago with windows 7. I didn't want windows 8, plus I already had 7 on my desktop.. Now I am having to replace my desktop. I share files and Microsoft documents (word, excel, etc) between both. Most towers are now being sold
with windows 10. Does anyone know how this will affect the compatibility of sharing documents between the two, if at all.

  3. New windows 10 updates are very slow

There are two types of updates in 10:

Feature Upgrade-These bring new features to OS and are released after every 6 months-Looks like your PC installed this.
It would take time as whole OS is reinstalled. The name of the latest upgrade was Windows 10 Anniversary update.

Updates-Cumulative updates, these release once a month and bring performance improvements like Bug fixes to OS. Relased every second Tuesday of the month. The updates are cumulative-the newest one covers the old too.

    These usually take 10 minutes.

Hopefully by end of the year July 2016 it will be No1.
In my eyes it already is.
I never liked Seven at all.

  6. I like windows 10 almost as much as I like apple's os x. so far it seems almost as stable but still need to do disk clean up and defrag on a regular basis unlike mac and still have to use an anti virus unlike mac.

I do a disk cleanup only after an update and since I have an SSD I don't need to perform a defrag. Overall I think that 10 is headed in the right direction and the insider program is the best thing MS has done.

I am thinking about updating this laptop to a ssd drive, but the fact is you still have to use anti virus and in fact do a disk clean up occasionally unlike apple. I was hoping Microsoft would have gotten rid of those issues. if apple can why cant they?

  9. I never run disc cleanup or defrag, windows runs these automatically so I see no need

Just let the OS manage itself

My take on it is this. The market share Apple is not large enough to make it profitable for hackers to attack the OS at this point. It takes time and effort to develop virus and malware and if there is no pay back then no one will put in that effort. While with Windows there are more users and the cost befit favors attacking those machines. Overall you can get by with Defender and not have any real issues. I use Avira free and I don't have any issues with it.

And putting an SSD will definitely be a major improvement and you can schedule the clean up so it's no longer necessary to do that manually.

  11. I am running comodo internet security for anti virus. never had an issue in the 2 months I have been using it... however I am sure that any anti-virus software has somewhat of an over all performance impact however minor....but it is still there

that is my point... windows 10 is great but it still has its issues, you would think that by now Microsoft would have gotten rid of it by building the os on a unix core like apple did. unix in unbreakable, but far too expensive for a single user to get

Maybe you all haven't heard but yes, Apple's OS does have virus/malware exposure. New virus created that can completely wreck Apple computers RT USA

My only issue with Windows 10 security is that the best security is available for the Enterprise version. They should offer those features in every version. Also, the standard Windows 10 version has a built in anti-virus. How good/bad it is is up for debate.
