Windows 10: Windows 10 always saving to file and not printing to paper

Apologies if this has been asked elsewhere but my friend's PC will not print any files to paper but always comes up with File Explorer and 'saves to file' It does this with all documents, Word, PDF, etc.If you then save the print and name the file and then try to print it, again it comes up with File Explorer and 'save to file'There is NO checkbox in the print dialogue box that enables me to uncheck 'save to file'He has two HP printers, one connected by USB and the other by WIFi.He is running Windows 10 version 22H2 and is up to date with all updates.How can we return Windows to just printin

I suggest you do the following procedures for the possible resolution of the problem:

Printing is out of alignment or the size of the printed document is reduced when printing the document from Microsoft Word.

Please follow the steps below to set the paper size correctly.

1.Open the document with Word 2010.

2. Click to select the paper size in the Settings section and select the paper size you want to use for printing.

3. Click to select the paper size in the Settings section and select the paper size you want to use for printing.

"If the paper size shown appears as the chosen one, be sure to click on the menu and from the drop down menu choose the paper size again".

Example: If you are printing a Letter size and Letter document is shown, click on the drop down menu from the menu and choose "Letter" again.

4.Click Print.

5. If the document prints without any problems, click Save on the File menu.

This problem can only occur if the paper size was not defined before the document was created. Before printing the document, we recommend setting the paper size and saving the configuration, following the steps above.

Hi Jean, my name is Neil, I'm an independent expert adviser for Microsoft and a Windows 10 user like you.

I'm sorry you're having trouble printing.

It really sounds like your printer has a jam or something blocking the flow of paper through the printer.

If you go to print a document and you hear it printing, but no paper is moving, then it's likely printing directly onto the paper roller inside your printer. This can get quite dirty with printer ink.

I suggest you have a good look inside your paper tray and inside your printer near the roller feed and make sure nothing is stuck there (like a paperclip or anything similar) that is preventing the paper from going in. Also, remove all the paper and realign
it into a neat stack before putting it back into the printer and also make sure there's not too much paper being put in. Try around 10 sheets first and no more and see if it prints then.

You could try turning the printer upside down and see if anything falls out of the printer that shouldn't be there, but please be careful doing this. Only do it if you feel comfortable doing it.

If none of these suggestions work, let me know and we'll try something else.

I would suggest you to follow the below steps, to print a Half Sheet paper in Excel.

1. Open the Excel Spreadsheet.
   
2. Go to File, click on Print.
   
3. Under the Print Settings, select the option "Custom Scaling".
   
4. Then select the option "Custom Scaling Options".
   
5. Under Page tab, select the option "Adjust to:" Change the value to 50%.
   
6. Click OK, and try to print the Excel paper.
