Windows 10: Windows 10 and Nuance PaperPort

    Windows 10 and Nuance PaperPort


    With only new version of Windows 10 and no other earlier versions of Windows on my new desktop computer, PaperPort 14.5 is absolutely incompatible. Very frustrating since I have used PaperPort for many years with all versions of Windows on computer that crashed. Nuance (manufacturer) claims this is a Microsoft issue. Please look into this for me and others with the same problem.

    Driver IRQL Not Less or Equal - Windows 10 & Nuance PaperPort

    I recently completed an upgrade from Windows 7 Professional (64 bit) to Windows 10. The upgrade was successful in every respect except that Nuance PaperPort 14.5 Professional (the upgrade to operate on Windows 10) repeatedly hangs during the last steps
    of installation. Then Windows 10 reports the error message, "Driver IRQL Not Less or Equal". Nuance says this problem is beyond the scope of their support, and I am stumped as to what this means or where to turn next.

    According to Nuance, only Nuance PaperPort 14.5 with Patch 1 is supported under Windows 10. If you haven't installed it, you could do so to see if it starts working again. The solution is to download the Patch 1 installer from this direct link: http://supportcontent.nuance.com/paperport/14/14_5/Patch1/Patch1__PP14UPRO_13223__v3.exe
    After downloading it, close PaperPort and run it. If you have't installed 14.5 yet, you can download it from the following links: here are direct download links: Professional http://supportcontent.nuance.com/paperport/14/14_5/Patch1/Patch1__PP14UPRO_13264__v4.exe

    You need to update to a later version of Paperport. According to Nuance, the developers of Paperport:

    Problem Statement:

    PaperPort will not load in Windows 10

    Resolution:

    The following items must be checked for PaperPort to function normally

    1) Incompatable Verison

    Only version 14.5 will work within Windows 10. If you are running 14.0 or lower an upgrade must be purchased.
