Windows 10: Windows 10 + Android Moto G5 - transfer files via USB cable doesn't work

Hi, I would like to transfer files photos, films and documents from my mobile phone to my Windows PC.In theory this is super simple with a USB cable. I have done that for years with other mobile devices without any trouble.The issue is that in Photo transfer mode, only a few images seem available to transfer all of them are there but most are supposedly corrupted or not supported. When I am in file transfer mode then I cannot read the photos/films/docs from the PC they supposedly may have been corrupted or not supported says Windows and when I try to copy to the PC I get an error: Unspec

I finally found the answer to my question over on the Lenovo Moto site located English Community-Lenovo Community

Essentially needed to swipe down from top of phone with USB Cable attached, then go down to Android USB and make the proper selection. It's explained in the link.

Windows 10 pc cannot import pictures from moto G5 plus

why doesn't windows 10 import pictures from my moto G5 plus cell phone? It imports pictures from my other cell phones on the same usb cable to each of my three windows 10 laptops, but not with the moto G5 plus cell phone. I connect my USB cable to my
moto g5 plus and windows 10 laptop, go to photos, click on import, but windows 10 finds nothing to import.

My Android moto g3 stopped transferring photos to dell e6410 windows 10. Things were working great, now they are not.

my old Doro flip phone transfers pictures on the same cable & USB port on the PC.

"phone companion" says my android moto g3 phone is "locked". It is not locked.

A suggestion was made to check cable, nudge, or try another USB port - my old Doro flip phone transfers pictures on the same cable & USB port on the same PC. My old Doro phone drops pictures right into the File Explorer, when I plug in the Android on the
same cable, "phone companion" pops up.

Do I have to use "phone companion"? "phone companion" does not pop up when I plug in the doro flip phone.

Do you think my Android phone defective?
