    Windows 10 Antimalware Service Executable

Is the Windows 10 Antimalware Service Executable, malware?

My new DELL XPS13 running Windows 10 almost completely locks me out from time to time, when running the Antimalware Service. The task cannot be killed. You take a break, go for a coffee, return to the machine, and AMS has it locked. Plus, it heats up the machine to the max and forces the fan to crank up where it is audible and you wonder what is going on.

Assuming AMS is not malware, is there a way to tune it? To throttle it back a bit.

    Help. - David
