Windows 10: Windows 10 Antivirus Blocking Basic Stuff

Hi,


I had to turn off antivirus just to be able to scan from my Canon TR4522 printer. Please see screengrabs below of what I ran into. I couldn't type below them.


With a fully strong WiFi signal, Win10 blocks any internet function. Can't use Edge or Explore, can't update Win10 or Windows Defender. Do I have to shut off antivirus for those functions too? Does not seem safe. Shutting off firewall has no effect. Luckily, my Optiplex 7010 MT is usually offline.


I'm not sure if I selected all of the right categories below. Last set seemed limited. For short, antivirus has been blocking folders. Last week, I couldn't save or transfer to PC before a restart.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Windows Defender or another antivirus software will sometimes block a certain app or file from running or being installed. With this, you can check the
quarantine section of the antivirus program you are using to see which program is being blocked. To better assist you, we need the answers to the following questions:

• What is the exact error message did you receive after launching or running the app?
• Which antivirus program are you using?

In the meantime, we suggest disabling the Windows Defender SmartScreen and see if the app will run. To do this, simply follow the steps below:

• Type Windows Defender on the search box and click on the first option.
• On the left side of the window, click on the Window icon (App & browser control).
• On the SmartScreen for Windows
  Store apps column, select Off.
