Windows 10 auto update stucks at 72% over and over again

Hi, there is an auto update of Window 10 running whenever I switch on my laptop recently. However, the update always stuck at 72% before a dialogue "we could not complete the update, undoing the changes, don't turn of your computer" shown up. After this,
the windows will automatically restart and then I can use my laptop as normal. But It seems like an endless iterations to me and it is extremely annoying. I can only use my laptop a few minutes after startup for all these update-and-failed things to happen.


Can anyone help?

1. Incorrect Windows Update settings.

2. Corrupt Windows Update components.

Method 1:

I suggest you to run “Windows Update troubleshooter” to diagnose the exact issue.

a. Press Windows key on the keyboard.

b. Type Troubleshooting in the search box.

c. Select “View all” option from the left panel.



d. Then select “Windows Update” option from the list and follow the onscreen instructions.



Method 2:

If the issue persists, I suggest you to try the steps under the section
Manually reset Windows Update components and check if it helps.
Resetting Windows Update Components will fix corrupt Windows Update Components.

Microsoft Auto-Updates Components of Windows Without User Permission

The nine files that are updated all have to do with the Auto-Updater itself.
The article lists them all. No big deal.

I run auto-update anyway, so BRING ON THE NEW UPDATES !!!
I have yet to experience any problems from MS updates on my XP network.
