Windows 10: Windows 10 automatic update 25 Jan 2019 disabled the display settings on my monitor.

Windows 10 update today ( 25 Jan 2019) disabled the resolution size. It also lost my screen background which i can no longer remember where i put it. I thought these days were over with Microsoft but obviously not.


Can some one please advise how to set the screen settings to 1920 x 1024 which is the recommended size but this is no longer showing as a option in the resolution dialog box.

A simple solution but one that works in most circumstances!

1. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.

2. In the list of services, right-click Automatic Updates, and then click Properties.

3. In the Startup type list, click Automatic, and then click Apply.

4. If Service status is set to Stopped, click Start, and then click OK.

5. Right-click Background Intelligent Transfer Service, and then click Properties.

6. In the Startup type list, click Manual, and then click Apply.

7. If Service status is set to Stopped, click Start, and then click OK.
