Windows 10: Windows 10 automatic update fails with "We couldn't complete the updates"

Discus and support Windows 10 automatic update fails with "We couldn't complete the updates" in Windows 10 Installation and Upgrade to solve the problem; Windows performed an automatic update. After the update finished and restarted I got a message "We couldn't complete the updates." Then it backed out...     Windows 10 automatic update fails with "We couldn't complete the updates"


    Windows performed an automatic update. After the update finished and restarted I got a message "We couldn't complete the updates." Then it backed out the updates. Pending changes to files that were open at the time of the update were lost.


    Is there something I need to do to enable the update to complete?


    Here are screen shots show the Windows version and the entry in System Update History.

    windows automatic updates

    i have some questions about the windows automatic updates in windows xp pro w sp/2. ive got about forty updates they recommend , mostly for security but i only installed two today. after installing them i found them in my add/remove programs in the control panel, if i add all these updates that is a lot of space on my hd almost 1 gig. i thought that updates just updated files and not created new programs. should i innore all these update suggestions from microsoft?
