Windows 10: Windows 10 automatically shutting down (unwanted)

Hiya guys,
New to forums, not sure exactly where I would post this question.

I've recently built a new PC and it's up and running straight away with no issues, the only things I moved from my old PC were my SSD+HDD and my graphics card, which i'm upgrading when I get paid next.

I was quite surprised when I didn't have to reinstall Windows, as I had assumed I would have to, but I moved my SSD over and it booted from it straight away with no obvious issues.

The issue i'm having, on 2 occasions it seems to have shut itself down really quickly without being asked to, but properly (Windows is shutting down..). I can't remember what I was doing first time round, but second time round I had clicked restart, but it just shut down. I rebooted and clicked restart again and it restarted fine.

I haven't got the internet yet in the new flat so haven't been able to reactivate, I had read somewhere (cannot find it again though), that an unactivated windows 10 will only run for a couple of hours at a time, not sure if this is true.

Windows 10 won't shut down, restarts instead

Unwanted restart after Shut Down began after Windows 10 anniversary update. I have a Dell XPS13 laptop. Turning off the fast boot option as described solved the problem.

 

Windows 10 issue

After update of Windows 10, pc doesn't shut down, sleep and restart... Please help immediately..
It starts automatically after choosing shut down option..
What to do?

My laptop can't shutting down..

I think the only limitation with an unactivated W10 is that you cannot personalise your PC and you get nagged every now and again to activate it. I don't think that it spontaneously shuts down after 2 hours.

W10 must have done a good job of finding new drivers for your new build, quite often the old drivers from a previous installation really interfere and you can't start up. However, as you are now on a new motherboard you may have difficulty activating. It will help if you previously logged in with a Microsoft account and do the same on your new build.

At some point it would be worth backing up your data and doing a clean install.

I did a clean install just incase and seems to be ok now!
Perhaps it was just a problem with the old drivers.
